FACILITIES AND GENERAL INFORMATIONS:

  1. Nursing Practice: The entire hospital complex of the S.H General Hospital, Greengardens with 350 bedded multi-specialty hospital is made available to the students for academic implication of evidence based practice in addition to other affiliated hospitals.
  2. A well expertise community Health Department with Urban and Rural Community Health Centre with various cultural developmental activities planned and executed scientifically for the practical experience of students in community health nursing.
  3. Extensive library service and systematic use of audio visual aids is available in the college to support the students in their continuous learning process. They shall follow all the rules & regulations of the concerned.
  4. Individualized attention will be provided with experienced faculty for all the programmes belonging to the college.
  5. Extra Curricular Activities:- The role of extra curricular activities in shaping the attitude to life in impressionable minds, and called upon students to take a healthy outlook at the competitions in the college arts and sports festivals. Extra curricular activities in the cultural field in education helped not only to develop the latent talents in students but also to establish healthy linkages with the local cultural milieu. All were born multi faceted personality and it was the responsibility of the society to ensure the all-round development of the students. In this view of the event, a number of opportunities are provided for the students to develop their skills and talents on various levels, such as membership in Student Nurses Association linked with Trained Nurses Association of India, participation of local, State and National Conferences and exhibitions which promote leadership potentialities of the students. Besides these opportunities, they can develop their talents in music, dance, indoor and outdoor games and sports.
  6. Health service: On admission every student will undergo a medical examination and an annual checkup will be done for all the students. Students are immunized against infectious diseases like typhoid, cholera, hepatitis and tetanus, whenever necessary. Medical care will be given to them in case of illness at S.H College of Nursing as per the student health scheme.
  7. During the course, a high level of health standard has to be maintained. In case of any illness as that of epilepsy, heart disease, nephritis, arthritis etc. detected after the admission, the course may be terminated.
  8. Hostel: The college provides hostel accommodation for all students. Stay in the hostel is compulsory to meet the requirements of the course both academic and practical. During their stay in the hostel, the students will be strictly adhered to the hostel rules. Students are expected to bring their own mattress, pillows, bed linen and other items of personal use. The cost of any damage to hostel property will have to be paid by the hostlers. Administration / discipline at the hostels are governed by the hostel rules. Student must abide with them and infringement may result in disciplinary action i.e. termination from the hostel.
  9. Mess: All the students shall be required to join the Hostel mess. The mess fee structure is liable to change at any time.
  10. Telephone Calls: No one is allowed to use mobile phone either in the college or hostel premises. Parents can call to the hostel at allotted time and no calls can be entertained directly to the students. Convey the messages in an emergency through the principal/ housekeeper. If any violation of rules is detected they will be declared either unfits to remain in the hostel or forfeits.
  11. Vacation: Vacation is planned according to the course and examination. If the students are unable to return in time due to illness, it should be intimated immediately to the principal followed by a written explanation. On return they should submit a medical certificate issued by Govt. civil surgeon stating full particulars of their illness and treatment. Normally, no other leave will be granted.
  12. Academic progress and clinical evaluation: All students expected to maintain a high academic and clinical performance throughout the programme. To this effect regular written examination and monthly clinical evaluation will be maintained for internal assessment
  13. Examinations: The students have to appear for the theory and practical examinations of the university, at the end of the academic year. Examination fee as determined by the university is to be paid by the students in time. Internal assessment in each subject is carried out in prescribed times and the internal assessment carries 25% weight-age of the total university marks.
  14. Withdrawal and agreement: Students will not be relieved during the course. If any student, after admission to the course disrupts or withdraws voluntarily from the college at any time before completing the course she will have to pay all fee and penalty amount to the college. Besides, all fee paid by her will not be refunded. A penalty will have to be paid to the college by the student as decided by the management. The student will be relieved from the college, certificates and marks card handed over to the student only, after all the obligations to the college are fulfilled. All students are required to execute an agreement to this effect on stamped paper of Rs.100/- before they are admitted to the course. The college reserves the right to terminate any one whose behavior or conduct is not found satisfactory or for any other cause during the period of study.
  15. Graduation: On successful completion of the course, the graduate is awarded a Nursing Degree during University Convocation. Transcript and course completion certificate are given only when the graduates meet all the course requirement of the college. Graduates are expected to register themselves with the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and also enroll as members of TNAI.
  16. All candidates from India or abroad having qualifications other than +2 examination of the Board of Kerala State should obtain an eligibility certificate from the Kerala University in order to register for the course, if selected. Students of all universities other than Kerala University must produce Migration Certificate.
  17. Classes will commence as per the schedule of the university. Admitted candidates must attend the class from the day of opening.
  18. University fee subject to change as per its notification. University examination fee remitted will be in appropriate time as per university notification. A student has to meet the required fee for the special training which will be notified in time to time. Other fee, if any, will be brought to the notice of the candidate on selection.
  19. Students shall strictly follow the dress code and valid identity cards.
