INTRODUCTION

The Advanced Health Nursing lab supports students in practising and developing skills to manage various patient scenarios across nursing specialities. It features advanced simulators, manikins, articles and instruments to manage the advanced needs of patients. This lab is equipped with video, audio and interactive projectors and panels. The lab provides many resources for teaching and learning to improve critical thinking and decision-making skills. Developing clinical skills requires a solid knowledge base, regular practice, and instructor feedback.

OBJECTIVES

Prepare students to handle real life situations with the support of simulators to offer independent learning opportunities
Foster and reinforce learning using simulation technology and related resources.
Provide hands on learning experiences specific to course objectives as directed by the nursing curriculum.
Foster independent student learning opportunities, which promote a model for life- long learning.
Increase preparedness for dealing with high acuity cases in all the specialties.
Promote evidence-based nursing practice through novel research applications.

LAB CONDUCT/BEHAVIOR

All Students should participate in a lab orientation conducted by Obstetrics and Advance Health Nursing.
Students should review procedures and scenarios prior to the lab session.
Follow lab hours strictly as mentioned in the timetable.
Students need to fill out their logbook as part of the completion of the curriculum requirement.
No cell phones are allowed in the lab.
No food or drink is allowed in the lab.
No equipment or supplies can be taken out of the lab without permission.
Any equipment or furniture used should be returned clean, in proper form and in proper place ready for the next use.
Replace the equipment and chairs when leaving the area.
Always sign in and out of the lab for both practice and presentation.
Report damage or malfunction of the lab equipment.
No students are to be in the lab without the Lab faculty.
Maintain cleanliness of the area where they are practicing.
No needles or sharps to leave the lab at any time under any circumstances.
Lights should be turned off and doors locked when leaving.

Rules and Regulations

Maintain the cleanliness and display professional conduct.
Issue the items in the presence of concerned lab in charge.
Replace the articles after the procedure. Replace the articles on the very next day after the practical examination.
If the articles are taken for posting replace the articles to the lab faculty within one week and get it back if needed.
Replace the damaged/missed items by students within the week.
Violating of any of these rules can result in disciplinary action.
